Position Description: Protingent Staffing has an exciting contract System Integration Engineer opportunity with our client located in Bellevue, Washington.
Job Responsibilities:
- Responsible for working with geographically diverse design team members to develop supporting design documentation. The design team members include company employees, subcontracted resources, partner employees, and customers.
- Apply Systems Engineering principles, methods, and tools to the design of nuclear and industrial facility and its systems.
- Develop, implement, and monitor processes and tools to support design work. This includes management of the engineering databases, and tracking and resolving Open Items.
- Provide oversight to partners and subcontractors developing mechanical system designs for the Natrium reactor.
- Provide design integration support of mechanical systems from functional requirements through final design.
- Identify and ensure effective application of correct design codes into the design of plant systems such as ASME, ANS, ASTM etc.
- Interface with the design team to support the creation and management of drawing packages including but not limited to Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), 3D models, and system interface drawings.
- Interface with design disciplines across the Natrium team (such as mechanical, instrumentation and controls, civil, and nuclear) to identify and develop plant design information and specify system design and performance criteria.
- Support system requirement and specification document development, such as Engineering Design Specifications for major plant equipment, and the selection of equipment, technologies, and design solutions.
- Provide technical review of design packages for systems, sub-systems, and equipment designs including coordination of calculations, design reports, mechanical drawings, and engineering design specifications.
- Develop and review technical design documents, such as System Design Descriptions, Interface Control Documents, Engineering Design Specifications, etc.
- Interface with, generate content for, and support licensing activities associated with Safety Analysis Reports and other regulatory submittals.
- Support design reviews as plant, system, and sub-system designs are established and refined.
- B.S. in Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical Engineering or related discipline from an accredited university and 5+ years (Design Engineer), 8+ years (Senior Engineer), or 12+ years (Principal Engineer) direct experience with proven system design skills.
- Demonstrated experience in the design of complex systems, structures, and equipment.
- Demonstrated experience in implementing Systems Engineering design approach in industrial or other high complexity, high regulatory environment highly desired.
- Experience with multi-discipline integration highly desired.
- Previous experience with nuclear reactors, nuclear handling process systems, or similar high-performance system or equipment design is highly desired.
- Strong understanding of product and project lifecycle attributes, include design for construction/operations, cost modelling, maintainability/inspectability, manufacturing practices, etc.
- Excellent technical writing, communication, and presentation skills.
- Strong understanding of configuration management principles, as well as knowledge of design control tools application on nuclear or similar complex industrial applications.
- Attention to detail and aspiration for technical excellence.
- Candidate must be a self-starter and possess ability to coordinate the resolution of technical issues between teams.
- Ability to work on simultaneous tasks that require a multi-disciplinary approach.
- Experience working to quality standards on design activities, such as ASME NQA-1 or ISO 9001.
- The successful candidate will possess a high degree of trust and integrity, communicate openly and display respect and a desire to foster teamwork.
- Actual position starting level and title will be determined based on assessment of qualifications.
