Position Title: Senior Reactor Structural Analysis Engineer

Position Description: Protingent Staffing has an exciting direct hire Senior Reactor Analysis Engineer opportunity with our client located in Bellevue, Washington. 

Job Responsibilities:
  • Support the rapid design of cutting-edge advanced nuclear reactors.
  • Solve challenging structural problems with innovation and the highest standards of excellence.
  • Drive hardware development for systems within reactor designs through analysis.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to determine interface requirements.
  • Use engineering fundamentals and advanced modelling techniques to solve novel problems.

Job Qualifications:
  • B.S, M.S., or Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from accredited university. Aerospace and Civil Engineering degrees are also considered.
  • Minimum of ten years of related experience with a B.S. degree, relevant M.S. and Doctorate degrees may be credited for up to two and four years of experience respectively.
  • Proficient in finite element stress analysis, mechanical analysis methods and commercial mechanical stress analysis modeling tools with an emphasis on ANSYS including both ANSYS APDL and ANSYS Workbench.
  • Strong understanding of solid mechanics, fracture mechanics, creep, and metal fatigue principles.
  • Candidate should have demonstrated experience in mechanical analysis of equipment or components.  This may include buckling analysis, thermal analysis, transient dynamics analysis, or creep / inelastic analysis.
  • Candidate should have demonstrated experience in seismic analysis of equipment or components; in particular, experience with response spectrum modeling techniques in accordance with the requirements of ASCE 4, ASCE 7, and/or ASCE 43 and/or US NRC Regulatory Guide 1.92 is highly desirable.
  • Experience or familiarity working under stringent quality assurance requirements such as ASME NQA-1, MIL-Q-9858A, or ISO-9000.
  • Experience with using the script languages such as Fortran, Matlab, VBA, Linux or Python to automate the analysis tasks.
  • Working experience with 3D CAD software such as SOLIDWORKS (preferred), CATIA, CREO, or NX.
  • Working experience with pressure equipment design codes and standards such as ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code Section VIII, Section III, ASME B31.1, and ASME B31.3.
  • Working experience with structural design codes and standards such as AISC N690, AISC 360, AWS D1.1, and AWS D1.6 is desirable.
  • Self-motivated: able to seek out tasks and produce value aligned with team goals without waiting for next assignment
  • The successful candidate will possess a high degree of trust and integrity, communicate openly and display respect and a desire to foster teamwork.
  • Actual position starting level and title will be determined based on assessment of qualifications.
