Job Description
Position Description: Protingent has an exciting contract opportunity for a Senior Optical Engineer located in Redmond, WA.
Job Responsibilities:
- Define and execute all prototype, manufacturing, and testing issues and other tasks necessary to complete and ship a world class product.
- Use knowledge of user needs to influence product direction and contributes significantly to product specification.
- Work with project managers and developers to help define the spec of the project as it relates to product test cycle.
- Provide leadership to others as needed on projects.
Job Qualifications:
- 5+ years work-related experience and understanding of optics required
- 5+ years of experience in procurement, characterization, and alignment of optical components is required
- Experience with lab equipment such as mechanical fixtures, function generators, oscilloscopes, and I/O interfaces for automation a must
- 5+ years of experience with optical simulations and/or coding for optical algorithms, station development (e.g. Python), and data analysis (e.g. JMP) required
- Consistent demonstration of superior testing or management techniques required
- Knowledge of optical simulations and one or more programming or scripting languages required
- Advanced knowledge of both manual and automated testing principals
- Ability to solve difficult problems
- Must have demonstrated superior testing and project management skills through production of world class products
- Demonstrated high level of accountability and personal responsibility leading to the success of projects required
- General optics knowledge
- optical simulation experience (e.g. Zemax, Code V, LightTools, FRED)
- A mix of hardware and software knowledge (Python, measure & test, station development & calibration, data acquisition), alignment of optics, and data analysis

- Job Type - Contract
- Location: Onsite/Hybrid
- Pay Range: $70-87/hr. DOE
- An offer of employment is contingent on successfully passing a background check, and applicants who do not successfully pass a background check will not be considered for employment.
