Position Description: Protingent has an exciting contract opportunity for a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer with our client in Bellevue, Washington.
Job Requirements:
- Responsible for coordinating with geographically diverse and international design team members to develop supporting design documentation.
- Coordinate input and requirements from the Engineering and Project teams to produce equipment design solutions.
- Provide planning and schedule input for design activities.
- Create CAD models optimized for anticipated future work and engineering drawings.
- Perform scoping analysis and calculations for design options.
- Interface with the team’s engineering analysis activities.
- Perform engineering and design evaluations in the application of nuclear codes and standards, licensing requirements, and NRC regulations.
- Provide technical direction and guidance to engineers in applicable nuclear and non-nuclear related design standards.
- Analyze and apply regulatory criteria and standards to complex equipment and system design.
- Develop and review technical design documents, such as System Requirements Documents, System Design Descriptions, Interface Control Documents, Engineering Design Specifications, etc.
- Create and manage drawing packages of system and sub-system designs, applying ASME 14.1 and Y15.5 standards.
- Provide technical direction and oversight of supplier projects, working with the contract administrator to ensure delivery of data and other deliverables to meet company requirements, as well as coordination and performance of technical reviews of deliverables.
- Support continuous learning and application of nuclear industry best practices in order to maintain the highest quality of engineering design and proactively identify process change/enhancement opportunities.
Job Qualifications:
- B.S. or higher in Mechanical Engineering, or related discipline from an accredited university, 8+ years (Senior Engineer), and direct experience with proven instrumentation and controls systems skills.
- CAD proficiency is required, SoildWorks preferred
- Demonstrated experience in the design of complex mechanical systems, structures and equipment including stress and thermal analysis.
- Experience with heat transfer calculations.
- Experience with flow and pressure calculations
- Experience with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing per ASME Y14.5M.
- Experience in Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA)
- Experience with design codes such as the ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code is desired.
- Experience working to quality standards on design activities, such as ASME NQA-1 or ISO 9001.
- Experience in high temperature and multi-discipline integration highly desired.
- Previous experience with nuclear reactors, nuclear handling process systems, or similar high-performance system or equipment design is highly desired.
- Ability to handle projects that include many competing objectives and design constraints, with ability to resolve conflicts between objectives.
- Excellent technical writing, communication, and presentation skills.
- Attention to detail and aspiration for technical excellence.
- Candidate must be a self-starter and possess ability to coordinate and lead a design team’s effort with minimal direction.
