Job Description
Position Description: Protingent Staffing has an exciting Direct Hire Senior Firmware Engineer opportunity located in Milpitas, CA.
Job Responsibilities:
- Drive platform architecture/design to meet the needs of our customers and product roadmap.
- Lead internal research and development of novel technologies to create world class innovative products
- Lead discovery and evaluation of new industry technologies for our products and maintain relationships with any relevant vendors pertaining to such technologies.
- Define firmware development, validation, release, and maintenance processes to improve consistency and quality.
- Manage firmware teams to best allocate resources across products.
- Assess risk, value, and workload of implementing technologies and developing products, and provide technical guidance on these topics to cross functional teams to aid roadmap and schedule decisions.
- Work with project management team to create product development schedules and roadmap.
- Work with quality teams to understand development and production issues/risks and guide relevant teams toward resolutions for these issues
- Review firmware designs for correctness and validity
- Create project and technical reports as required
- Test and validate prototypes from initial engineering samples to mass production.
- Help maintain firmware servers (used for revision control, build system).
- Develop tools for internal use, including scripts and basic hardware interfaces.
Job Qualifications:
- 5-10+ years’ experience in leading and managing product development
- Superior expertise in C/C++ program design coding and testing
- Experienced with sensor, bootloader, I2C, SPI, UART, FreeRTOS, Arduino, Raspberry Pi, ARM
- Proficient with 802.11 protocols and Bluetooth/Bluetooth Low Energy
- Experience with product definition and specification
- Experience with management or performing of testing and debugging of hardware and software
- Experience with offshore manufacturing and willingness to travel overseas
- Strong analytical problem solving skills
- Excellent decision-making skills
- Ability to understand technical challenges in detail
- Excellent organizational, communications and people skills
- BS in Engineering
- Verbal and written Chinese language is preferred but not mandatory
