Position Title: Project Planning Manager

Position Description: Protingent staffing has an exciting direct hire opportunity for a Project Planning Manager with our client located in Bellevue, Washington.


Job Requirements: 
  • Lead and drive the project planning process. Lead the development and implementation of tools, processes, and templates that facilitate engineering planning and schedule development.
  • Work with Project Management to plan out and manage planning and schedule development activities. Drive the full project team, including partners, to the planning timelines.
  • Lead engineering teams through the development and maintenance of both higher level full-project schedules and detailed near term schedules.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Project Management, Project Controls and external partners to translate, develop, integrate and sequence engineering activities and inputs into the Integrated Master Control Schedule (IMCS).
  • Facilitate and coordinate the creation of cross-system and cross-project logic ties in the schedule. Assist in negotiating hand-offs between stakeholders regarding technical / engineering content and schedules, as well as facilitating workaround planning.
  • Serve as a liaison by maintaining, publishing, and presenting relevant planning information and metrics to provide visibility and communicate potential issues to management and engineering.
  • Lead the development and organization of engineering scope schedule fragnets to be used in planning/estimating and ultimately for inclusion in the IMCS. Provide oversight on implementation/use of fragnets to ensure standard application across the project. 
  • Assist Project Management with performing project level integrated reviews of the planned work.
  • Perform independent schedule risk assessments and mitigation planning
  • Analyze critical path and constraints to determine the effect of progress changes to schedule and recommend solutions to ensure baseline key milestones are achieved
  • Develop What If Scenarios & recovery plans due to project activity slippage and change requests.

Job Qualifications:
  •  Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent technical field.
  • PMP or AACE certificate is preferred.
  • Minimum of five years of project engineering planning experience, preferably including work in R&D, engineering and/or Department of Energy (DOE O 413.3B) projects.
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate and drive results across company and organizational lines.
  • MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint, Visio, and MS Project.
  • Experience in MS Power BI Service, Oracle BI or other data analytics platforms is a plus.
  • Experience with Atlassian tools such as Confluence and JIRA preferred.
  • Strong analytical/problem solving skills, creative thinker.
  • Exceptional attention to detail.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a busy, frequently interrupted setting.
  • Proven ability to work independently with little or no supervision.
  • Ability to recognize needs and exercise good judgment in how and when to take initiative to accomplish tasks.
