Job Description
Position Title: Optical Test Engineer
Position Description: Protingent Staffing has an exciting contract opportunity for an Optical Test Engineer with our client located in Redmond, WA.
Job Responsibilities:
- Design
- Design and implement innovative, robust, scalable, secure, and extensible hardware engineering solutions.
- Gather specific information for “make vs. buy” strategies.
- Consult with other engineers to help understand and apply advanced concepts.
- Implement or recommend technical solutions to common quality and design, and testing challenges.
- Testing and Verification
- Ensure test requirements are included in documentation and specifications for a feature or product.
- Determine appropriate test equipment for measuring features of well-defined products according to existing verification plans.
- Use standard templates and test methodologies to write clear, complete design verification test cases.
- Develop, review, and execute test plans for standard features or products.
- Gather data for external testing supplier or partner selection options.
- Develop automated testing solutions and independently conduct automated testing on standard feature areas or products.
- Participate in the development of dashboards or reports for testing and quality metrics.
- Analyze and interpret results of data and statistical analyses to identify common problems or flaws that may affect a feature or product design change and bring them to the attention of other engineers or team leaders.
- Assist in the development of prototype components for use in validation of new product features under guidance from other engineers.
- Collect and evaluate data from site acceptance tests and create reports.
- Project Implementation
- Follow a single project implementation schedule to deliver the hardware engineering aspects of a well-defined feature or product and escalate issues to management as necessary.
- Obtain input from functional experts regarding opportunities to affect downstream execution of projects by resolving issues and executing design tradeoffs within scope.
- Reporting and Documentation
- Follow established procedures to assist in the creation of detailed reports and functional specifications for a well-defined product feature or extension based on information from product development and verification processes.
- Assist in developing training materials, documents, and templates under guidance from a manager.
Minimum Job Requirements:
- BS degree in Engineering or equivalent practical experience.
- 5 years of experience testing consumer products
- 3 years of experience testing optical components or devices. - Must Have
- 2 years Data analysis experience - Must Have
- 2 years MATLAB experience. - Must Have
- Experience designing, procuring parts, configuring, and validating new test setups.
- Working knowledge of image quality metrics, optical characterization, and optical test hardware.
- Experience with image quality evaluation and imaging science, statistical analysis, correlation and GRR.
- MS in Engineering.
- Knowledge of optics, imaging, photography, lasers, and optical metrology instruments (imaging, colorimeter, spectrometer, etc.)
- Experience with hardware testing, system bring up, and design validation.
- Experience with image processing and algorithm development.
- Experience with high volume production and test processes.
- Experience with LabVIEW, Python. MATLAB is required.
- Proficiency with statistical analysis methodologies and tools such as JMP and Excel
- Experience with manufacturing test requirements in a high-volume manufacturing environment
Job Details:
- Contract
- Pay Range: $54- $65/hr.
- Work Authorization: ITAR obligations are associated with this role, U.S. citizenship, U.S. legal permanent resident status, or protected person status under 8 U.S.C. § 1324b(a)(3) is required.
