Metallurgical Laboratory Technician

Job Description
Position Description: Protingent Staffing has an exciting contract Metallurgical Laboratory Technician opportunity.
Job Responsibilities:
- Perform a wide range of hands-on laboratory-based materials testing and characterization activities to support the reactor
- Perform metallography and characterization for a wide range of metallic and ceramic materials
- Generate reports detailing characterization techniques and resulting data
- Perform hands-on radiation work, including work inside of a glovebox
- Operate and maintain materials focused laboratory equipment such as furnaces, polishing equipment, and metallography equipment
- Assist with the design, fabrication, and operation of custom laboratory experiments
- Coordinate receipt inspections of incoming materials, sectioning of materials, and shipping of materials with both on-site and off-site individuals.
Job Qualifications:
- A Technology or Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience. A degree in Materials Science/Engineering/Technology, Metallurgical Engineering/Technology or a related technical discipline is desired
- Demonstrated hands-on laboratory experience is required
- Metallography and sample prep experience is required
- A high attention to detail and quality control is required
- SEM-EDS, microscopy, and other characterization experience is preferred
- Experience working to quality standards such as ASME NQA-1, ISO 9001, or others is preferred
- Lab management experience (e.g., maintaining spaces and/or equipment) is preferred
- Experience with radiation work, including working within gloveboxes, is desired
- Strong communication skills desired
- The service provider will possess a high degree of trust and integrity, communicate openly and display respect, and a desire to foster teamwork.
- Travel Required: 0-5%
Job Details:
- Job Type: Contract
- Pay Rate Range: $37-$74/hr (Pay rates are approved based on candidate location, education and experience).
- Location: Everett, WA.
- Export control regulations require candidates to be a U.S. Citizen, U.S. Legal Permanent Resident, or of a protected person status
