Job Description
Position Description: Protingent has an opportunity for a contract Mechanical Engineer position in Everett, WA.
Job Responsibilities:
- Design mechanical elements of a High Voltage Pulsed Power System, in close collaboration with Electrical Engineering
- Produce and maintain 3D CAD data for the components, and system assembly.
- Generate 2D drawings that fully define the components and system assemblies.
- Complete analyses demonstrating the sufficiency of a design to meet its service requirements.
- Produce layouts and schematics that fully describe an element of the system.
- Disposition non-conformances.
- Work with Manufacturing to ensure that parts and assemblies are built effectively and efficiently.
- Give transparent status on design progress, host design reviews, and assist Program Management in compiling progress and planning execution.
Job Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Aerospace Engineering (other relevant fields may apply) from an accredited university.
- 5+ years of relevant experience in the design of mechanical systems, mechanisms, High Voltage systems, pulsed power systems or pressurized hardware.
- Strong understanding of engineering fundamentals for mechanical design and manufacturing.
- Experience in 3D CAD programs (Solidworks preferred)
- Experience in the use of Finite Element Analysis (FEA) tools to analyze mechanical systems (ANSYS preferred)
- Experience with GD&T (ASME Y14.5)
- Working knowledge of component design such as mechanisms, electrodes, buswork, pulsed power hardware, valves bellows, tubes and pressurized components.
- Working knowledge of fabrication, integration processes, and quality control techniques relative to machined components, insulators and welded hardware.
- Working knowledge of High Voltage materials and treatments
- Experience with design / management of large assemblies (Product BOM’s in excess of 2000 parts)
- Proven experience and successful track record in product development – developing new ideas and taking them to market.
- Strong written, personal, technical, and software skills (CAD, Scheduling, Issue Tracking, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.).
- Ability to communicate clearly and appropriately at all levels of the organization.
- Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion
- Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum
Preferred Job Qualifications:
- Experience with high-voltage systems, specifically high voltage pulsed power systems
- Experience with electronics and AC electrical power
- Hands-on experience in hardware manufacturing (i.e., castings, forgings, additively manufactured components, welding, machining, cleaning, non-destructive testing methods, tight tolerance assembly, leak testing, final acceptance testing of integrated hardware, and Manufacturing Execution Systems/Software).

- Pay Rate Range: $60-75/hr.
