Position Description: Protingent Staffing has an exciting contract Mechanical Designer opportunity.
Job Responsibilities:
- Produce robust CAD models that facilitate fast-paced design evolution and derivative creation that leverage advanced CAD modeling techniques and methodologies.
- Develop and maintain highly complex mechanical designs. Pro-actively seek out, research, and propose unique solutions. Conduct trade studies to down-select best option.
- Use model configurations to support analysis needs, such as: Structural, Neutronics, Thermal-Hydraulic, Radiological, Safety, etc.
- Document design progress, changes, and decisions via Company’s internal & external online collaboration workspaces.
- Create supporting technical presentations, documents, and reports as needed.
- Create engineering drawings (layout, detail, interface control, general arrangement, etc.) per ASME 14.1 and Y14.5 standards.
- Perform tolerance stack up calculations.
- Check and review drawings for accuracy of information and conformance to ASME & Company drafting standards via electronic redline process.
- Ensure and maintain configuration control of models/drawings via Company’s product data and product life-cycle management software.
- Regularly review design group generated documents and propose improvements. Pro-actively contribute to written guidance and standards development.
Job Qualifications:
- B.S. degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Chemical Engineering or equivalent and 3+ years of relevant experience.
- CAD proficiency in SolidWorks
- Creative thinker with strong analytical/problem solving skills and ability to work multiple tasks concurrently with minimum direction to solve challenging problems
- Organized and detail oriented, with excellent writing and communication skills
- The successful candidate will possess a high degree of trustworthiness and integrity, communicate openly and display respect and a desire to foster teamwork
- Demonstrated experience with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing
- Experience checking fabrication drawings
- Experience in Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA)
- Experience in Mechanical and Machine Design
- Experience using a product data management (PDM) system preferred
- Experience working to quality standard, such as ASME NQA-1 or ISO 9001.
- A minimum of seven years of CAD proficiency is required, SolidWorks preferred
- Demonstrated experience with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing per ASME Y14.5
- Experience using a product data management (PDM) system
- Excellent writing and communication skills
- Nuclear design experience preferred but not required
- Demonstrated experience in oversight of supplier and subcontractor organizations in an engineering environment.
- Demonstrated diverse and robust experience in test of complex mechanical components and equipment in high temperature and multi-discipline integration.
- Previous experience with nuclear mechanical components, nuclear reactor equipment, or similar design is highly desired.
- Proficient knowledge and experience with nuclear quality fabrication, construction, and lifecycle management processes (including In-Service Inspection, material surveillance, vibration programs, equipment qualification programs, etc), and similar skills highly desired.
- Exceptional communication skills to integrate with a geographically and organizationally diverse engineering team are required.
- The successful candidate will possess a high degree of trust and integrity, communicate openly, and display respect and a desire to foster teamwork.
- Travel Required: 0-15%.

- Job Type: Contract
- Pay Rate Range: $37-$74/hr (Pay rates are approved based on candidate location, education and experience)
- Location: Bellevue, WA (Open to hybrid).
- Export control regulations require candidates to be a U.S. Citizen, U.S. Legal Permanent Resident, or of a protected person status
