Job Description
Position Title: Mechanical / Project Engineer
Position Description: Protingent Staffing has an exciting direct hire Mechanical / Project Engineer opportunity.
Responsibilities:
-
Responsible for calculations for Pressure Vessels in accordance with ASME Section VIII.

Responsible for calculations of piping stress.
-
Responsible for maintaining piping specifications in accordance with ASME B31.1 and B31.3.
-
Responsible for execution of projects; defining scope, establishing budgets, planning resources, scheduling work, generating of designs and specifications, and overseeing procurement, production and shipment of work.

Responsible for maintaining effective relationships with customers, contractors, and internal clients. Responsible for clearly communicating, coordinating and documenting project execution and changes externally and internally. Responsible for maintaining customer and contractor correspondence. Responsible for document tracking including the supply, review, approval and modification of customer and contractor documents.

Necessary skills to manage contracts. The project engineer is responsible for complying with customer specifications and other applicable codes to fulfill contract requirements; be capable of adjusting equipment designs to fulfill requirements. Must be effective at changing order management, capable of defining changes and their associated costs and schedule implications. Responsible for quoting and procuring change order authorizations

Responsible for overseeing the generation of design documents, identifying design needs and utilizing in-house expertise. Work closely with the in-house engineering skills to prepare material specifications, bills of material, and detailed designs and outsource design and engineering when necessary.

Manage all aspects of project budgeting, from initial estimates to final cost analysis

Responsible for maintaining and supporting a safe work environment, reporting unsafe conditions or workplace hazards, keeping work area clean, preventing injuries and illnesses, and adhering to Company Safety Manual.

Responsible for other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Manager of Engineering.
Qualifications:
-
Working knowledge of the ASME Pressure Vessel Code, Section VIIL
-
Working knowledge of ASME Power and Process Piping Sections B31.1 andB31.3

Working knowledge of project management and contract management.
-
Excellent organizational, prioritization, communication, interpersonal, and technical writing skills. Must be able to interact professionally and courteously with customers and other departments/divisions within Company and Corporation.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with keen attention to detail. Must be able to handle multiple projects, and multiple tasks, with the ability to direct the activities of people working on projects.

Proficiency in putting together, reading, understanding and interpretation of complex specifications, and drawings

Proficiently using MS Office; Word, Excel, and MS Project, capable of working in a MS Windows environment
Required:
-
Knowledge and demonstrated familiarity with ASME Section VIII
-
PE in the state of Washington
-
BS in Mechanical Engineering

Must be available for travel to customer sites within the US and outside of the US as required for the execution of projects and for general customer technical support. Travel durations will generally be short but may at times be up to 4 to 5 weeks per trip.
