Position Title: Materials & Welding Engineer
Position Description: Protingent Staffing has an exciting contract Materials & Welding Engineer opportunity with our client located in Bellevue, Washington.

Position Description: Protingent Staffing has an exciting contract Materials & Welding Engineer opportunity with our client located in Bellevue, Washington.
Job Responsibilities:
- Develop material property correlations and advanced material performance models as input to computer codes and methods to demonstrate the mechanical performance of reactor systems, structures, and components.
- Plan, execute, and oversee test programs designed to develop an understanding of complex mechanical phenomena (e.g. creep, fatigue, creep fatigue, stress corrosion cracking, and fracture) in sodium cooled fast reactor core materials
- Perform quantitative and statistical analysis on test data (e.g., physical property measurement, ion and neutron irradiation, mechanical testing, corrosion, and tribology) and generate technical reports to document new knowledge related to reactor design and qualification
- Design and analyze irradiation experiments in test reactors including test matrix development, capsule design, optimization of design parameters
- Perform Qualification of Existing Data per ASME NQA-1-2015
- Provide materials engineering support for the procurement of engineered components and systems including leading technical development of suppliers to increase technology readiness level of key components
- Minimum of 3 years of related experience with a B.S. degree; or an advanced degree with related experience, or equivalent experience. A degree in Materials Science/Engineering or a related technical discipline is desired.
- Prior experience in materials development, testing, and characterization for a nuclear reactor environment is desirable
- Experience developing material data correlations, design allowables, or material performance models
- An understanding of complex mechanical phenomena (e.g., creep, fatigue, creep fatigue, stress corrosion cracking, and fracture) in high temperature systems
- Experience qualifying materials for service in highly regulated applications is preferred
- Strong communication skills desired
- The successful candidate will possess a high degree of trust and integrity, communicate openly and display respect, and a desire to foster teamwork
- Actual position starting level and title will be determined based on assessment of qualifications.

- Pay Rate Range: $50-60/h
