Job Description
Position Title: Engineering Technician
Position Description: Protingent Staffing has an exciting contract opportunity for Engineering Technician with our client located in Santa Clara, CA.
Project Description: This role will involve qualifying and servicing the internally owned functional test fixtures. Responsibilities will include software updates, troubleshooting, repair, and calibration. The role requires technical expertise, experience, and the ability to make independent decisions. The candidate should demonstrate competency to perform the duties of a Senior Engineering Technician. Additionally, the role necessitates the ability to coordinate repairs with operations and other engineering disciplines to minimize downtime.
Job Responsibilities:
• Perform IQOQ on operation and engineering-owned fixtures.
• Coordinate qualification activities with operations/lab owners to ensure that each fixture is up to date and in good working order.
• Perform quick triage of the issues and recommend the best action to limit downtime.
• Perform simple reworks on the spot (cable crimping, soldering components, tapping threads, cleaning optics, adjusting alignments, etc.).
• Document all activities in support of our formal records.
• Order parts and assemble/bring up duplicate fixtures for operation.
• Assist or execute engineering-level tests and collect data to support the design of experiment activities or characterize an assembly.
• Assist with parts order, build, and modification of development fixtures for evaluation.
• Generate or assist in the implementation of Engineering Change orders.
• Follows all corporate safety, SOP, DOP procedures, and regulations.
• Understand problems, areas of risk, and areas for improvement within the work unit, including the processes and procedures.
• Perform other engineering technician duties as needed.
Job Qualifications:
• AS degree, trade school, military technical training. B.S. EE/Comp E or equivalent is preferred.
• A minimum of eight years of troubleshooting experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Significant experience with wiring diagrams, schematics, assembly drawings, fab drawings, and mechanical drawings.
• Ability to perform complex technical issues on various electrical/electro-mechanical assemblies.
• Working knowledge of computers, word processing, and spreadsheet applications for documentation and data presentation.
• Ability to read, modify, and execute test scripts used for debugging.
• Ability to learn quickly and adapt to various technologies that allow effective troubleshooting. Examples: Digital and Analog Electronics components, optical components, servo components, machined parts, sheet metal parts, cable assemblies.
• Good verbal and written communication skills are required to partner effectively with operation techs, supervisors, the training department, and Manufacturing/Design/Test Engineers.
• Proven ability to work well in a team environment.
• Experience with JIRA, Agile, and SAP or equivalent tools
• Effectively use of troubleshooting and measurement equipment like oscilloscopes, multimeters, function generators, custom test platforms.
• Document investigation findings in quality notifications, which are part of official Device History Records.
• Electronic and Mechanical assembly skills (Examples: soldering, crimping, box build, fiber handling, optical component handling, cable routing, and use of RTV/epoxy).

• Pay range: $35 - $41 /hr
• Location: Santa Clara, CA (Hybrid)
