Job Title: Engineering Technician 3

Position Description: Protingent Staffing has an exciting contract opportunity for Engineering Technician 3 with our client located in Sunnyvale, CA.

Job Description:
  • The candidate should be comfortable working with minimal supervision, possess strong attention to detail and the ability to manage priorities.
  • In addition, the individual will assist with developing and maintaining a clean and well-organized engineering lab environment that includes robotic instruments, rapid prototype machines, tools, fixtures, prototypes, and supplies.
  • A strong sense of integrity, care, and attention to detail is required as well as a commitment to developing products of the highest quality.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Execute engineering level tests and collect data to support design of experiment activities. Including collecting, recording, and reporting test results
  • Maintain warehousing and inventory of materials.
  • Assist engineering team with expediting of prototype material, including generating purchase requests and tracking invoices.
  • Assisting with early prototype builds, including procurement of material, inspection of materials and subassemblies, rework of components, assembly, troubleshooting, and repair of prototype instruments
  • Independently prioritize activities across multiple projects, coordinating with team members on requirements and deadline for each task.
  • Provide input and feedback to the design and manufacturing teams to enhance manufacturability
  • Providing input for protocols and reports for engineering, qualification, and verification studies
  • Assist with creating manufacturing instructions and test methods
  • Assist with developing and building tooling and fixtures in support of testing and assembly.
  • Manage lab resources, supplies, and equipment (metrology equipment, manufacturing and prototyping tools, etc.).
  • Manage calibration of test and measurement equipment.
  • Other support activities as necessary.

Job Qualifications:
  • Good communication skills to be able to partner effectively with Design/Mfg Engineers
  • Effective use of test and measurement equipment like Instron, Keyence, force gages, micrometers, and custom test platforms.
  • Demonstrated ability to build high quality prototypes without detailed process instructions.
  • Proficient with basic hand tools (Dremel, Drill, Ultrasonic knife, files, soldering iron)
  • Computer skills in Microsoft Office and cloud-based file sharing apps required, Solidworks experience highly desired, and comfortable executing scripts on other computer applications.
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully work on multiple projects at once, coordinating directly with stakeholders to ensure on-time task completion.
  • Sense of urgency and Multi-tasking is essential to be able to support engineering team effectively.
  • Experience with Good Documentation Practices.
  • Minimum High School Diploma or GED. AS or BS degree in engineering technology, trade school, military technical training preferred.
  • Minimum 4+ years experience
  • Medical device experience preferred.
  • Experience with complex electro-mechanical equipment
  • Ability to perform repetitive duties while standing/sitting for long periods of time.
  • Moving or lifting equipment/product up to 50 lbs. occasionally required.
  • Local travel up to 5% may be required.

Preferred Job Qualifications:
  • Proficiency in CAD software and GD&T.
  • Experience with ERP systems (Agile, SAP).
  • Knowledge of GMP, GDP, and Quality Systems Regulations.
  • Proficiency in machine tool use: mill, drill press, etc. 

Job Details:
  • Job Type: Contract
  • Pay Range: $45 - $50 an hour.
  • Location: Sunnyvale, CA (Onsite).
