Position Title: Electrical Engineer 5 - Power

Position Description: Protingent has an exciting contract opportunity for an Electrical Engineer 5 - Power with our client located in Mountain View, CA. This is a hybrid role with 2-3 days a week onsite.

Job Responsibilities:  
  • Help the client build the next generations of Mixed Reality devices.
  • Driving power system architecture, especially battery and charging and PCB/PCBA designs for Mixed Reality products, both industrial and consumer.
  • Partner closely with mechanical, Industrial Design, display, sensors, cameras, wireless, and firmware teams to drive the right design trade-offs for the product.
  • Responsible for creating power models to estimate battery day of use, power circuit design, simulation, validation, and characterization across multiple products ensuring their successful delivery.
  • Generate design documentation, perform schematic capture and board layout review, prototype bring-up and design validation.
  • Characterize power consumption, battery run time, battery charging/discharging curve.
  • Collect power measurements for builds and drive power consumption optimization cross-functionally.
  • Root-cause and solve technical issues during new product development and support in field escalations.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams such as industrial design, architecture, product design, NPI, and supply chain.
  • Evaluate and enable innovative solutions for cost, size, efficiency, safety, and reliability.
  • Work closely with CM/JDM resources to leverage their engineers and maximize the focus of internal resources on adding value to and differentiating our product.
  • Typical Day in the Role:
  • The purpose of this team is developing the head mounting display and AI hardware, Virtual reality, augmented reality.
  • The main function of this role is to drive power system architecture, especially battery and charging and PCB/PCBA designs for Mixed Reality products, both industrial and consumer.
  • The role will consist of degenerate the schematic, schematic review, layout review, evaluation verification, be familiar with technology: power charger or a power circuit/battery experience.
  • This team is defining the next generation of AI-powered devices which will enable the real world to become the AI inputs. Job Qualifications:
  • Must Have 2 years’ experience with power charger or power circuit/battery experience.
  • Must Have 2 years’ experience with battery vendors/conductor vendors engineer fundamentals, PCB.
  • Must Have 2 years of experience with schematic capture, layout review, engineer fundamentals, PCB.
  • BS or MS in Electrical Engineering or equivalent industry experience.
  • 6+ years of experience of low power design and delivery in consumer electronics or related fields.
  • Knowledge of the characteristics of power conversion such as linear and switching regulators.
  • Working experience in battery management system, charger, mobile SoC and PMIC
  • Experience and knowledge of printed circuit board (PCB) technologies, such as rigid, flex, hybrid, HDI, etc.
  • Experience leading technical teams, cross-functional groups and vendors against plans.
  • Candidates must have a BS degree, experience in hardware and software.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Demonstrated experience in bringing new technologies to product.
  • Experience performing bench level power measurements to validate battery life.
  • Experience with charging and PD Controller.
  • Experience running PDN and PI simulations such as Sigrity or Hyperlynx.
  • 10+ years of experience of low voltage power design in consumer electronics or related fields.
  • Experience performing bench level power measurements and validation including using logging tools or software scripts.
  • Knowledge of the relationship between physical layout and electrical performance.
  • Experience working with one of the following technology areas at least: audio, image processing, display, wireless, sensors.

Job Details:
  • Job Type - Contract hire
  • Client Location:  Mountain View, CA. Onsite/Hybrid role - 2 -3 days onsite required
  • Pay Range: $84-$106/hr. DOE
  • An offer of employment is contingent on successfully passing a background check, and applicants who do not successfully pass a background check will not be considered for employment.
