Position Title: Core Thermal Hydraulics Software Engineer

Position Description: Protingent Staffing has an exciting *REMOTE* contract Core Thermal Hydraulics Software Engineer opportunity.

Job Responsibilities:
  • As a software developer/engineer, you will have hands on development responsibility to build, test and verify computational software to characterize core thermal hydraulics of the demonstration reactor
  • In this role, you will collaborate with multi-disciplinary software development teams and participate deeply in all aspect of software development lifecycle including software quality assurance program
  • Collaborate with quality assurance (QA) teams to ensure translated code meets quality and acceptance criteria
  • Participate in code reviews, providing feedback and suggestions to improve code quality, maintainability and validation traceability
  • Prepare informal and formal reports and/or presentations to document findings and make reasoned recommendations, and report to core thermal hydraulic team manager/leads.

Job Qualifications:
  • B.S., M.S., or Ph.D in Mechanical, Nuclear, Computer Science, or other relevant technical Engineering area from an accredited university.
  • Minimum of 5+ years of experience in the nuclear or relevant industry with a B.S. degree, or 3+ years with an M.S or Ph.D. degree with demonstrated ability to perform the software development and nuclear reactor core thermal-hydraulic analysis
  • Proficiency in Python programming and experience using Git (or similar) version control systems. Preference will be given to candidates who are also proficient with C++
  • Experience in Software Quality Assurance (SQA) program and Nuclear Quality Assurance (NQA-1) standards highly preferred
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills due the NQA-1 environment and requirements for formally documenting calculations
  • Experience with nuclear reactor subchannel or systems codes (e.g. RELAP5-3D, TRACE, COBRA, SLTHEN, SABRE4, etc.) preferred
  • Knowledge of liquid metal thermal-hydraulics preferred
  • The successful candidate will possess a high degree of trust and integrity, communicate openly and display respect, and a desire to foster teamwork
  • Actual position starting level and title will be determined based on assessment of qualifications

Job Details:
  • Job Type: Contract
  • Location: Bellevue, WA./100% Remote Acceptable
  • Pay Rate Range: $60-80/hr.
  • Export control regulations require candidates to be a U.S. Citizen, U.S. Legal Permanent Resident, or of a protected person status
