Our client is seeking a highly skilled Sr. Power Electronics Control Engineer with expertise in:
-
Programming Digital Signal Controllers (DSCs), specifically the Texas Instruments (TI) C2000 Delfino series microcontrollers (MCUs), for power converter control applications.
-
Applying analog circuit and digital design expertise to high-reliability, high-power AC-DC & DC-DC power converters and power sub-systems.
-
The successful candidate will be a key player in designing control systems for critical applications, including radar, directed energy, and military more electric vehicles.

Responsibilities include initiating innovative circuit designs, creating comprehensive documentation, and conducting rigorous analysis and characterization to sustain and advance their product line.
Job Responsibilities:
-
Design and Development: Perform design and development of power converters, incorporating modern topologies to achieve high performance, reliability, and cost-effectiveness.

Embedded Control Systems: Design, develop, and optimize control algorithms for power converters using TI C2000 Delfino series MCUs. This includes programming the DSC for complex functions like control for bidirectional converters.

Control Implementation: Implement and optimize control strategies for various power conversion systems such as DC-DC converters, inverters, and motor drives.

System Integration: Collaborate closely with hardware engineers to ensure seamless integration of control algorithms with power electronic hardware.

Analysis and Validation: Perform detailed circuit analysis, system modeling, simulation (e.g., using MATLAB/Simulink), and analysis to validate control strategies and verify design compliance to specific performance targets.

Testing: Conduct functional, acceptance, qualification, or development testing on new or modified designs.

Technical Documentation: Prepare and review all necessary technical reports and documentation to satisfy customer, internal, and program requirements, including specifications, design documents, test plans/procedures, and schematic generation.

Program Support: Provide technical assistance, preliminary designs, and R&D support for the bid and proposal process.

Quality Assurance: Accept ownership for producing thorough and accurate designs that meet all customer and company requirements for schedule, cost, producibility, quality, and reliability, following the design through the entire lifecycle.
Job Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor's degree (BSEE or related technical field) in Electrical Engineering, Power Electronics, or a related field.

Experience: 8+ years of industry experience in electronics, power conversion product design, and manufacturing.

Expertise: Expertise in programming TI C2000 Delfino series (or similar) MCUs for power converter control.

Design Background: Proven experience in DC-DC, AC-DC converter, or inverter design.

Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of power electronics principles, including topologies, switching techniques, control methods, and digital control theory (e.g., PID, state-space, model predictive control).

Programming Skills: Proficiency in C/C++ programming and familiarity with development environments like TI Code Composer Studio (CCS).

Analysis Tools: Hands-on experience with system modeling and simulation tools such as MATLAB/Simulink.

Soft Skills: Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills; excellent problem-solving ability.

Security Clearance: The ability to apply for and obtain a US government security clearance is required
Preferred Job Qualifications:

Advanced degree (MSEE / PhD) in power electronics with relevant published research.

Demonstrated experience with manufacturing standards and practices.

Experience with designing products for harsh environments, such as military applications.

High power and vehicle electrification experience.

Ability to provide leadership to engineering design staff.

Demonstrated multi-tasking and prioritization skills.

Salary Range: $130K-$170K DOE +2-5% bonus that can double depending on company performance

An offer of employment is contingent on successfully passing a drug test and background check, and applicants who do not successfully pass both the drug test and background check will not be considered for employment.

ITAR obligations are associated with this role; U.S. citizenship, under 8 U.S.C. § 1324b(a) (1), (3) is required.
