Position Title: Senior/Staff level Systems Engineer - Aircraft Power Systems

Position Description: Protingent Staffing has an exciting direct hire opportunity for a highly skilled  Senior or Staff level Systems Engineer specializing in Aircraft Power Systems to join our client's team in Kirkland, WA. This is a hybrid role offering the flexibility to WFH 2-3 days per week.

Job Description:

  • As a Systems Engineer, your primary mission will be to drive business growth by designing next-generation aircraft power systems.

  • You will leverage your technical acumen and innovative mindset to create electrical power solutions that deliver significant improvements in weight, cost, and reliability for airborne applications.

  • You will be expected to lead the definition and verification of Line-Replaceable Unit (LRU) requirements.

  • Within three months, you should be spearheading the requirements definition and verification activities for multiple aircraft power products.

  • This role requires a blend of technical expertise, customer interaction, and collaborative teamwork to ensure the successful development of cutting-edge power systems.


Job Responsibilities:

  • Innovative Power Systems Development: Utilize your extensive experience to design and develop electrical power systems, focusing on innovations that offer weight, cost, and reliability benefits over traditional solutions. Lead the LRU requirements definition and verification process.

  • Customer Credibility: Engage with customers to establish yourself as a trusted expert in aircraft electrical power systems design and certification. Build and maintain key relationships to enhance our client's reputation as the industry leader in aircraft power solutions

  • Technology Trade-Off Assessment: Stay abreast of new technology trends in power systems and provide insightful recommendations based on practical experience and certification standards.

  • High-Performance Team Environment: Collaborate effectively within cross-functional teams (electrical, software, test, mechanical engineers, program management, manufacturing, and supply chain) to achieve project success.

  • Internal Technical Leadership: Foster cooperative working relationships with internal engineering teams, providing technical guidance, conducting peer reviews, and offering mentorship. Contribute to the growth and development of less experienced engineers and ensure the quality and reliability of power system designs.


Job Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a closely related engineering discipline.

  • Experience Level:

  • Senior Systems Engineer: Demonstrates proficiency (typically 5-7 years of direct experience) with the essential duties and responsibilities.

  • Staff Systems Engineer: Demonstrates expertise (typically 8 or more years of direct experience) with the essential duties and responsibilities

  • Experience (Required):

  • Experience with requirements capture and management tools such as Polarion, Caliber, DOORS, or Jama.

  • Extensive knowledge of aircraft electrical power systems (EPS) design and integration.

  • Experience adhering to a defined system development process in a regulated environment.

  • Mastery of key aerospace standards: DO-160 (Environmental Testing) and ARP4754 (System Development Guidelines).

  • Ability to author complex technical documents, including specifications and plans.

  • Competence in presenting technical information to customers and management.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and team-structured environment.

  • Highly Desired Experience:

  • Experience with Aerospace Cybersecurity standards (DO-326A, DO-356A).

  • Experience with specialized aircraft systems (e.g., bizjet, helicopter, electric aircraft).


Job Details:

  • Job Type: Direct Hire

  • Location: Kirkland, WA (Hybrid with flexible work arrangement (2-3 days remote per week)).

  • Salary Range: $132,983-$199,474 per year.

  • ITAR obligations are associated with this role; U.S. citizenship, U.S. legal permanent resident status, or protected person status under 8 U.S.C. § 1324b(a) (1), (3) is required.

  • Employment is contingent on passing a pre-employment background screen and drug test, including cannabis screening.
