Position Title: Sr. Software Platform Engineer

Position Description: Protingent Staffing has an exciting direct hire opportunity for an experienced Sr. Software Platform Engineer to join our client's team in Kent, WA. Our client is a world leader in designing and integrating custom digital in-flight entertainment and cabin management systems (IFE/CMS) for the corporate, private, and VIP aircraft industry.

Job Description:

• As a Sr. Software Platform Engineer, you will design complete and complex frameworks, systems, and products.
• You will define processes for technical platforms and system specifications while shaping the architecture used across multiple next-generation initiatives.

Job Responsibilities:

• System Architecture & Design: Defining processes for technical platforms, system specifications, and input/output parameters to ensure hardware and software compatibility.
• Development & Testing: Using current programming languages and technologies to write code, complete programming, and perform testing and debugging of applications.
• Documentation: Completing all necessary documentation and procedures for system installation and maintenance.
• Problem Solving: Identifying, analyzing, and resolving system design weaknesses and complicated architectural issues.
• Leadership & Mentorship: Acting as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) to lead teams of developers, mentor junior engineers, and delegate tasks to keep projects on track.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Interacting with users to define system requirements and assisting other departments to maintain project timelines.

Job Qualifications:

• B.S. degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or Electrical Engineering is required (a Master’s degree may be considered in lieu of some experience).
• 7+ years of industry experience in embedded systems and board bring-up.
• Must Have: Proficiency in Linux OS.
• Must Have: Proficiency in C, C++, and C#.
• Must Have: Proficiency in Python.
• Technical Knowledge: Working knowledge of serial buses (I2C, SPI) and Ethernet.
• Networking Expertise: Solid understanding of network protocols (PTP, NTP, DHCP, etc.) and network debugging of multicast/unicast packets.

Preferred Job Qualifications:

• Working proficiency in Java/Android OS.
• Working knowledge of AVB, IGMP, RTP, and H.264/H.265.
• Ability to read and interpret RFCs to understand new protocols and requirements.
• Experience in the VIP/VVIP aircraft or aerospace industry.
• Travel: Occasional travel to customer sites (typically no more than 2 weeks per year).

Job Details:

• Job Type: Direct Hire
• Salary Range: $95,000 to $120,000
• Location: Onsite in Kent, WA during core hours.
• An offer of employment is contingent on successfully passing a drug test and background check.
• ITAR obligations are associated with this role, U.S. citizenship, U.S. legal permanent resident status, or protected person status under 8 U.S.C. § 1324b(a) (1), (3) is required.
