Position Description: Protingent Staffing has an exciting contract Nuclear Shielding and Criticality Engineer opportunity.
Job Responsibilities:
- Tasks are generally MCNP calculations, formally documented in calculation packages.
Job Qualifications:
- B.S. degree in Nuclear Engineering with 10+ years’ experience
- M.S. degree in Nuclear Engineering with 6+ years’ experience
- Ph.D. degree in Nuclear Engineering with 3+ years’ experience
- Strong MCNP skills and experience with performing radiation shielding calculations for both gammas and neutrons are required. Experience in critical safety is desirable.
- Candidate should be familiar with variance reduction using MCNP, and features such as surface source read/write, mesh tallies, and weight windows. Familiarity with ADVANTG for weight windows generation is a plus.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills required.
- Ability and professionalism to work within published regulatory guidelines are required.
- Experience working under the NQA-1 quality program is desired.
- Strong computational expertise is desired.
- Experience with Attila /Attila4MC and computer-aided drafting (e.g., SolidWorks, SpaceClaim/ANSYS, Cubit) is a plus.
- Fast reactor experience is a plus.
- Strong programming skills in any language are a plus, and Python is commonly used in this position
- Knowledgeable or highly motivated to quickly learn basic nuclear reactor design concepts to meaningfully support the engineering team.
- The actual starting level will be determined based on the assessment of qualifications.

- Job Type: Contract
- Pay Rate Range: $84-$110/hr.
- Location: 100% Remote Acceptable
- Export control regulations require candidates to be a U.S. Citizen, a U.S. Legal Permanent Resident, or a protected person.
