Position Description: Protingent Staffing has an exciting contract Machinist opportunity with our client in Kent, WA.
Job Responsibilities:
- Set up, operate, and maintain world-class, state-of-the-art CNC machines to fabricate components for various spaceflight systems.
- Share in the team’s impact on all aspects of CNC machining and fabrication.
- Setting up and operating a variety of CNC machines and equipment to produce accurate components, enabling first article success on tight tolerance, high-value parts.
- Hands-on programming, set up, and machining of 3, 4, and 5-axis mills, multi-axis lathes, and development of critical machining processes.
- Working with engineering to document and standardize production processes.
- Partner with leadership and engineering to prioritize work based on production schedule and organizational goals.
- Ensure product quality and conformance to engineering specifications.
Job Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience in machining aerospace components.
- Experience machining the following materials: nickel-based stainless steel alloys (Inconel, Monel, etc.), Copper, Aluminum, and/or Titanium.
- Extensive experience with one or more of the following CNC machines: Mazak, Kuraki, Hermle, OM, and/or DMG Mori.
- Experience with 3, 4, and 5-axis CNC machining on both mill and lathe machines (Horizontal, mill/turns).
- Working knowledge of Fanuc, Siemens, Heidenhain, Mazatrol, or other CNC controls.
- Excellent blueprint reading skills, including GD&T per ASME Y14.5 M-1994 standard.
- Familiar with the use of personal computers.
- Ability to provide Design for Manufacturing feedback.
- Must be physically able to climb ladders, stairs, work in small/restricted areas, and lift and carry 25 lbs.
- Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion.
Preferred Job Qualifications:
- Tooling and fixture design.
- Vertical Turning Lathe (VTL) experience
- Outside processing knowledge, including: heat treat, plating, coating, EDM, grinding, etc.
- CMM programming/operation experience
- CNC programming skills, preferably Mastercam X6 through 2018 and/or Unigraphics NX
- Conversational programming on the machine
- Experience operating heavy lifting equipment such as cranes and forklifts
Job Details:

- Pay Rate: $53.56-58.56/hr.
- ITAR obligations are associated with this role, U.S. citizenship, U.S. legal permanent resident status, or protected person status under 8 U.S.C. § 1324b(a) (1), (3) is required.
