Business Operations Technician

Job Description
Position Description: Protingent has an exciting contract Business Operations Technician opportunity with our client in Charlotte, NC.
Job Responsibilities:
- Monitor and troubleshoot the client’s transport network, including Optical/DWDM, SONET, Ethernet, and Digital Loop Carrier (DLC) systems.
- Open and manage trouble tickets using platforms such as ServiceNow or proprietary ticketing systems.
- Lead repair efforts with field operations, technical support, and vendors; coordinate restoration of ridges during outages.
- Perform remote equipment-specific testing, isolation, and maintenance
- Analyze network alarms and events using tools like Netcool, SolarWinds, and other industry-standard tools.
- Execute and follow the Method of Procedures (MOPs) for planned maintenance and emergency restoration.
- Maintain detailed documentation of network failures, root cause analysis, and corrective actions.
- Interface with vendors to resolve hardware/software issues and escalate as needed.
- Provide Tier I/II support for transport platforms, including Cisco, Juniper, Ciena, Adtran, and Calix etc.
- Validate network subsystem performance using SNMP, CLI, and GUI-based tools.
- Perform circuit testing, loopback verification, and signal tracing to isolate faults.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and contribute to knowledge base updates.
- Train and mentor cross-functional technicians on troubleshooting procedures and escalation protocols.
Job Qualifications:
- Associate degree in Telecommunications, Networking, or related field; or equivalent experience
- 3–5 years of experience in a telecommunications operations or service assurance role.
- Technical certifications (e.g., CCNA, JNCIA, MEF-CECP, CompTIA Network+) preferred.
- Proven experience in customer-facing roles with executive-level communication skills.
- Strong understanding of telecommunications protocols, including TCP/IP, MPLS, BGP, OSPF, TDM, and VoIP.
- Experience with fiber optic technologies, including OTDR, light level testing, and wavelength provisioning.
- Familiarity with transport network topologies such as ring, mesh, and point-to-point.
- Ability to interpret network diagrams, circuit layouts, and equipment manuals.
- Proficiency in using Linux/Unix command line for diagnostics and log analysis.
- Knowledge of network reliability standards and SLAs for enterprise customers.
- Comfortable working in a Network Operations Center (NOC) environment with minimal supervision.
- Strong leadership, collaboration, and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- High attention to detail and a strong customer focus.

- Job Type: Contract
- Location: Remote
- Pay range: $20-23/hr.
- ITAR obligations are associated with this role; U.S. citizenship, U.S. legal permanent resident status, or protected person status under 8 U.S.C. § 1324b(a) (1), (3) is required.
