Inventory Control and Production Planner

Our Eastside client is looking to hire a Inventory Control and Production Planner to join their team.  

Job Description:

The Inventory Control and Production Planner supports planning and building of electronic assemblies for mission-critical aerospace applications.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Prepare, issue, and control challenging material requirements and production schedules to ensure a controlled flow of approved materials timed to meet strict production requirements.

  • Evaluate materials supply & demands and MRP schedules, prepare work orders/purchase orders for the production or purchase of components or parts to support a master production schedule and inventory requirements.

  • Coordinate with all parties to resolve critical shortage problems or emergency requirements that could delay or halt production activities.

  • Responsible for material analysis of inventory transactions relating to receiving, storing, issuing, cycle counting, material handling, and shipping, including accurate recordkeeping and stringent controls on all inventory item transactions and physical movements.

  • Conduct the inventory count program for all parts, work in process, and finished goods. This includes count entries, reconciling discrepancies, and developing root cause and corrective actions to reach count accuracy goals.

  • Advise management of the status of work in progress, material availability, and potential production problems ensuring that personnel, equipment, materials and services are provided as needed.

  • Evaluate and make recommendations to the overall planning process consistent with continuous improvement goals.

  • Monitor and communicate timely information when schedules change, and proactively manage and implement recovery plans.

  • Ensure the timely incorporation of engineering change orders (ECOs) that affect ordering, scheduling, and inventory levels.

  • Identify and control the flow of non-conforming material.

  • Perform risk analysis, including identifying and resolving critical path and MRP logic conflicts.

  • Provide coordination with outside vendors for outsourced manufacturing activities.

  • Evaluate suppliers for adequate quality management system and other the performance criteria.

  • Analyze raw material and component requirements and develop manufacturing Bills-of-Materials.

  • Read and understand technical documents.

  • Perform non-obsolescence planning including monitoring end-of-life status of components and subassemblies and managing the sequencing and ordering of tasks and materials relating to spares and repairs orders.

  • Create, write, and modify manufacturing procedures and work instructions related to the above activities.

  • Assist with manufacturing tasks during high-demand periods.

  • Work effectively with multiple managers, reporting to operations manager while taking directions from production and engineering managers.

Job  Qualifications:

  • Recent manufacturing experience in planning, input/output control, bills of materials, routing, inventory management, and purchasing

  • Electronics industry experience with knowledge of electronics products and manufacturing process

  • Electronic component knowledge, including part types and substitutions

  • Working knowledge of both automated and manual MRP planning control systems, with an understanding of nested bills of materials

  • Extreme attention to detail

  • Ability to handle multiple activities and project plans in a fast paced environment

  • Strong Windows application computer skills, particularly Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access

  • Excellent written/verbal communications skills

  • Effective at arbitrating and optimizing needs of multiple departments including Quality, Engineering, Sales, and Customer Service

  • Knowledge/exposure to AS9100 or ISO 9001

  • Knowledge of Continuous Improvement processes

  • Ability to lift at least 20lbs and walk/stand for extended periods of time

  • This position requires access to information which is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulation (ITAR). All applicants must be U.S. persons within the meaning of ITAR. Desirable Qualifications:

  • Aerospace experience and familiarity with processing circuit card assemblies and electronic box assemblies

  • Awareness and knowledge of counterfeit parts procurement avoidance.

  • Degree in a business, accounting, or engineering related field

  • APICS certification

  • MISys MRP experience

  • Microsoft Access database design and development

  • Knowledge of industry standard assembly practices

  • Understanding electronic schematics and PCB assembly drawings, as well as processing/manufacturing constraints and techniques for electronics products
